TikTok Book Promotion Ideas
As important as it is to promote your own work, don’t forget about the rest of the BookTok community. Feature other authors and books on your page and tag them when you post about them. Author Kelly Vincent featured a book they were reading in this post.
I recently posted a video calling all authors to #StitchThis and tell the TikTok world about their book. Do it! There are lots of videos like this on TikTok where someone will ask you to stitch their video with your response. Watch for opportunities to do this.
You might’ve heard of TikTok – the app where you can make and share short videos with cool filters and soundtracks. Well, did you know that this app has over 1 billion active users worldwide? Crazy, right? And it’s not just for fun and games either! For self-published authors, TikTok can be an awesome platform to promote their books and reach a wider audience with creative and engaging content. How cool is that?
That’s why you started your account! Encourage people to post reviews on Goodreads and Amazon, share comments with you after they’ve read, and more. Mention anything going on in your book life. Events coming up? Make a video about it like author Anne Abel did.
You want to be sure your videos have a lot of variety. In other words, you shouldn’t just promote your book in every single video (see next tip), but you can still create lots of videos that promote the book as long as you’re doing it in clever, expressive ways! I love this one by @rachel_writes_books.
